Eric Magnuson is the founder and principal of Magnuson Consulting. Eric has over ten years of experience matching Internet technologies to the business needs of both companies and nonprofits. He has managed business development, led software teams, launched products, managed high-traffic websites and built the entire IT infrastructure for a graduate school. Throughout his career he has sought to work with organizations with which he shares values and where the work is meaningful. Eric's philosophy is that life is short and there is no time for work that is not having a direct positive impact on people and the planet. In the dawning days of the Internet, Eric joined RealNetworks (then called Progressive Networks) to help build a new communication medium using streaming media with the promise of giving a voice to progressive causes. While there, Eric helped build a group called RealImpact whose mission was to provide Internet services to progressive organizations. Some of RealImpact's clients that Eric worked with include Alternet, MoveOn, Common Cause, AFL-CIO, Earthjustice, Amnesty International and The Jane Goodall Institute. After RealImpact, Eric joined the Bainbridge Graduate Institute both as a student and as an employee. At the time the school was entering its second year of operation and was in need of many of the basic information systems any organization needs to perform. In addition to the normal business tools, the school needed an online communication systems to support its distance learning delivery format. Eric designed, built, and deployed five major online information and communication systems and trained a community of over 100 people. Since founding Magnuson Consulting Eric has worked with a growing number of businesses and nonprofits. One of his more high-profile projects was for Air America Radio for whom he helped research and write a comprehensive Internet business plan. He has also recently worked for ArtsJournal, Grist Magazine, and Roots of Change Fund. Currently Eric is a member of the Leadership Council for the Seattle chapter of the Business Alliance for Local Living Economies. He is also a member of the Interra Project Citizen's Council. Eric received his BS from Albright College in Reading, PA with a combined degree in Political Science and Computer Science and a MBA in Sustainable Business from the Bainbridge Graduate Institute.
